- 1 pound (450g) pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
- Red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)


1. Preheat your wood-fired oven to its highest temperature, typically around 500-600°F (260-315°C), and let it preheat for at least 30 minutes.
2. Stretch or roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
3. Place the stretched dough on a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or flour to prevent sticking.
4. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, covering the entire surface of the pizza.
6. Arrange the sliced pepperoni over the cheese in an even layer.
7. Drizzle the olive oil over the top of the pizza.
8. Carefully transfer the pizza from the peel to the preheated wood-fired oven, placing it directly on the pizza stone or baking surface.
